Femke Vindevogel, °1978 Ghent, Belgium, is a contemporary artist and writer/poet from Jabbeke. She works mainly with acrylic and colored pencil and paints as she writes: from the perspective of a detached observer, inspired by the small moments of beauty in everyday life and always with a dash of humor. In her writing and visual work, Vindevogel likes to highlight things that others do not notice.
Vindevogel studied Fine Arts at Sint-Lucas in Ghent and Painting at the Academy of Ghent from 1995 to 2007. Since 2008 she has worked near Bruges.
She is currently working on the series: ‘Lifes In Chairs’ that celebrates domestic objects. The series celebrates the beauty of worn objects and is at the same time a reflection of Femke's life as a writer and as a homebody. The chairs are painted on folded/used paper and recycled Multiplex to emphasize the poetry of imperfection and are painted in a small format, which contributes to the intimate character of her work.
